What does this charge mean?
This statute declares that preventing child sexual abuse is a priority for Tennessee and requires the state to develop a comprehensive approach to detecting, intervening, preventing, and treating child sexual abuse. The statute notes that 93% of child sexual abuse is committed by family members or people the child knows in the home environment, so prevention efforts must focus on in-home abuse.
