Overview
TNDocket is committed to protecting your privacy. This policy explains what information we collect, how we use it, and your rights regarding that information. We operate under a simple principle: we collect only what's necessary to provide our service.
Information We Collect
Public Records Data
TNDocket aggregates publicly available criminal justice records obtained through the Tennessee Public Records Act (T.C.A. § 10-7-503). This includes booking records, charges, court information, and mugshot photographs published by Tennessee county jails and courts. This data is already public — we do not create or generate new records.
Visitor Information
When you visit TNDocket, we may collect:
- IP address (for rate limiting and security purposes)
- Browser type and operating system
- Pages viewed and time spent on site
- Referring website URL
We do not use third-party tracking cookies. We do not sell or share personal visitor data with data brokers. Advertisers and partners who place listings on TNDocket receive aggregate performance metrics for their own placements (such as impressions, clicks, and call volume), but these metrics do not include personally identifiable information about individual visitors.
Account Information
If you create an account for premium features in the future, we will collect your email address and payment information. Payment processing is handled by a PCI-compliant third-party processor — we never store credit card numbers on our servers.
How We Use Information
- To display public records in a searchable, organized format
- To prevent abuse of our service (rate limiting, bot detection)
- To improve site performance and fix technical issues
- To provide advertisers and partners with aggregate performance data for their placements (impressions, clicks, calls)
- To respond to removal requests for eligible records
Data Retention
Public records remain on TNDocket as long as they are part of the public record. When records are expunged or dismissed by a court, we remove them upon verified request (see our Record Removal page). Server logs with IP addresses are retained for 30 days, then deleted.
Third-Party Services
TNDocket uses Cloudflare for content delivery and DDoS protection. Cloudflare may process visitor IP addresses according to their own privacy policy. We do not use Google Analytics, Facebook Pixel, or similar tracking services.
Your Rights
You have the right to:
- Request removal of records that have been legally expunged or dismissed
- Request information about what data we hold related to you
- Contact us with privacy concerns at any time
Children's Privacy
TNDocket does not knowingly publish records of individuals under 18 years of age. Tennessee law generally restricts public access to juvenile records. If you believe a juvenile record appears on our site, please contact us immediately.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this policy periodically. Material changes will be posted on this page with a revised "Last updated" date. Continued use of TNDocket after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
