What does this charge mean?

It is illegal to use someone else's identification or a fake ID to get goods, services, or benefits you are not entitled to receive. Violation is a Class C misdemeanor punishable by up to 30 days in jail and up to $50 in fines (though other statutes may impose additional penalties for using fake IDs for alcohol or driving).

(a) A person commits the offense of using a false identification who, for the purpose of obtaining goods, services or privileges to which the person is not otherwise entitled or eligible, uses a false identification. (a)(38) or a specific statute exists covering the same or similar conduct. See Tennessee Code 39-11-106(b) A violation of this section is a Class C misdemeanor; however, if a violation of § 57-5-301(d)(3) or § 57-3-412(c) also constitutes a violation of this section, the offender shall be punished in accordance with those sections.
