What does this charge mean?

The district attorney can offer a witness immunity (protection from prosecution) if the witness refuses to testify without it. This immunity must be given in writing and signed by the district attorney. Special immunity rules that apply to regular grand juries do not apply to this special grand jury.

(c) The immunity granted witnesses pursuant to Tennessee Rules of Criminal Procedure, Rule 6(j)(6) shall have no application to a grand jury convened pursuant to this part.
