Alleging libel

PENDINGUnknown

What does this charge mean?

In libel (false written statements that damage someone's reputation) cases, prosecutors do not need to prove outside facts showing how the published statement applied to or harmed the specific person. They can simply allege the false statement was published about that person, and the publication will be proven at trial. This is a procedural simplification with no criminal penalty.
