FELONYFelony
What does this charge mean?
This statute is not a criminal offense—it is an administrative rule allowing the court system to hire private contractors to create written transcripts of court proceedings instead of using court reporters if that method is more cost-effective and efficient. The administrative director is authorized to negotiate and sign these contracts on behalf of the state. This is a procedural/administrative statute, not a criminal law.
