Whenever a court authorizes a defendant sentenced to supervised probation to reside in this state but outside the jurisdiction of the sentencing court, the court may: (1) Retain jurisdiction over the defendant; or (1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.Probation: A sentencing alternative to imprisonment in which the court releases convicted defendants under supervision as long as certain conditions are observed.State: when applied to the different parts of the United States, includes the District of Columbia and the several territories of the United States. See Tennessee Code 1-3-105(2) Transfer jurisdiction over the defendant to an appropriate court in the jurisdiction in which the defendant will reside. A court to which jurisdiction is transferred shall have the same powers as the sentencing court.
