Hearing officer – Service of process

(a) The director shall act and serve as hearing officer when designated by the commission and shall perform such duties as hearing officer as now authorized under this chapter. Ask a legal question, get an answer ASAP!(1) The legal authority of a court to hear and decide a case. Concurrent jurisdiction exists when two courts have simultaneous responsibility for the same case. (2) The geographic area over which the court has authority to decide cases.Service of process: The service of writs or summonses to the appropriate party.(b) In any action or suit brought against the members of the commission in their official capacity in a court of competent jurisdiction, to review any decision or order issued by the commission, service of process issued against the commission may in their absence be lawfully served or accepted by the director on behalf of the commission as though the members of the commission were personally served with process.
