It is also illegal to falsely claim to be a military member or veteran by wearing unearned medals or rank. Base violation is a Class B misdemeanor (up to 6 months jail, $500 fine), but can be enhanced to Class A misdemeanor for certain types of impersonation, such as pretending to be a law enforcement officer while acting like one.
