Aggravated rape is forcing someone into sexual penetration while armed with a weapon, or causing bodily injury, or with help from other people using force—the most serious rape offense. This is charged when rape occurs with additional dangerous circumstances such as weapons, injuries to the victim, or multiple attackers. Conviction carries 15 to 60 years in prison and fines up to $50,000.

Aggravated kidnapping is false imprisonment committed to facilitate another felony or escape, interfere with government functions, cause serious bodily injury or terror to the victim, while the victim suffers bodily injury, or while the kidnapper possesses or threatens to use a deadly weapon. Punishment ranges from 8 to 30 years in prison and up to $25,000 in fines, though voluntarily releasing the victim alive or providing information leading to safe release is considered a mitigating factor at sentencing.

Penalty: Class B felony; 8-30 years; fine up to $25,000

It is illegal to carry or possess certain weapons including firearms, knives, or items designed to cause serious injury or death. Base punishment is up to 6 months in jail and/or up to $500 in fines. Penalties increase to felonies (1-6 years) if the weapon is carried during commission of a felony, near school property, or in certain other circumstances. ---

It is illegal to possess a firearm with the intent to use it armed during the commission or attempted commission of a dangerous felony (any felony involving violence, threat of violence, or serious bodily injury). Violation is a Class D felony (2-12 years imprisonment and/or up to $5,000 fine), and can be enhanced to a Class C felony depending on the circumstances or nature of the underlying felony.
